A religious ceremony to invoke blessings on the Chief Incumbent of Hunupitiaya Ganagarama Temple, Chief of Colombo Nawa Koralaya, Ven. Dr. Galabodaththe Gnanissara Thero was held with the participation of President Maithripala Sirisena at Ganagarama Temple on New Year’s Day.
The religious ceremony, which is held traditionally held at the Gangarama Temple, also was a chance for participants to pray for the quick recovery of Nayake Thero who is currently receiving medical treatment.
The president engaged in religious rituals and later engaged in the pooja to bless Nayake Thero, while at the temple.The chief administrative head of Ganagarama Vihara, Ven. Dr. Kirinde Assaji Thero and Mahasangha also engaged in religious rituals.Opposition leader Mahinda Rajapaksha, Minister Sajith Premadasa, and other ministers were also present at the religious event.
